Do we need employer brand videos to compete?

Short Answer

No. You can build your brand with whatever you have. But if you choose to make videos, start with clarity + proof. Add video only if it adds credibility and can be produced simply.

Long Answer

Video can help if it shows believable proof (real work, real leaders, real teams) and reduces uncertainty. But it’s not required to become choosable. Many teams get more lift from tighter job posts, better outreach, stronger interview talk tracks, and proof-backed careers pages. If you do video, keep it simple: short manager explainers, “why this role” clips, and day-in-the-life content that’s specific, not cinematic culture montages. The test: will this video make a candidate more confident to apply or accept? If not, focus on higher-leverage assets first.

When you take a fresh approach to employer branding, more as a business driver than an application generator, as a way to make your differentiated value shine rather than as a bumper sticker, amazing things can happen.
